Math Olympiad Practice — Free Questions, Tests and Worked Solutions

Mathematics Olympiad and enrichment · free · Class 4 live now

School Mathematics Olympiads test something the school textbook barely teaches: reasoning under
time pressure, and being willing to try a problem for two minutes that does not obviously work. This
section is practice for that, and it is free, needs no sign-up, and applies no negative marking.

Class 4 is the only grade published so far. Grades 3, 5 and 6 are being written in the
same format and will be added here. Nothing is promised before it is published.

Which Olympiad is this for? Mostly the school-run Mathematics Olympiad — in India the
dominant one is organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation, run as a Level 1 paper for Classes 1–12
with a Level 2 for older students. There are several others: SilverZone’s international Olympiad, the
CREST Mathematics Olympiad, and the Aryabhatta and Ramanujan papers that run later in the year.
Do not plan your preparation from a website’s date list, including this one. Check the
organiser’s own site, and check it again close to the date. Registration is nearly always run by the
school, not by individual families.

What these pages give you that a worksheet does not

  • A written reason for every wrong option. Not “the answer is B” — why a student
would plausibly reach for each of the other three. This is the single biggest difference.
  • Answers that were actually verified. Every answer was recomputed by a script before
publishing, and the check is repeatable.
  • The real scoring rule. No negative marking, stated plainly, because getting that
wrong changes how a child should attempt the paper.
  • No login, no download, no email wall. Open it on a phone and it works.
  • Printable. Every page prints as a clean worksheet, with or without the solutions.

How to prepare, in order

  1. Find out the exact format first. Number of questions, time, whether there is negative
marking, and whether a calculator is allowed.
  2. Drill one skill at a time before mixing everything. Pattern problems, remainders and
working backwards are the three that pay off most.
  3. Always write the answer down and check it two ways before moving on.
  4. Then do timed papers, and review the ones you got wrong rather than the score.
  5. Re-read every wrong answer’s explanation the same day. This is the part that does the
    work.

Coming next

  • Grade 5 — the same two-page format, built on the Class 4 syllabus and extending it.
  • Grade 3 — foundation level, useful as a starting point before Class 4.
  • Single-topic drills — number patterns, remainders, geometry and logic, each on
its own page with its own visual set.
  • Grade 6 — last, because it overlaps the rational numbers work that Grade 5 is
    still building.

This list is a statement of intent,
not a schedule. If a page is not on the site yet, it does not exist.
